TEXAS SHOWS WILD DISRESPECT TO MICHIGAN DURING AND AFTER WEEK 2 WIN

Steve Sarkisian’s Longhorns had no reason to respect Sherrone Moore’s watered-down Wolverines, who didn’t look anything like defending champions, during a 31-12 blowout win for Texas at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor.

But after the game, the Longhorns lacked any semblance of respect for their defeated opponents – allowing David Gbenda to plant a University of Texas at Austin flag at midfield on the infamous Michigan “M.”

Texas topped Michigan on time of possession, total yardage, and third-down efficiency. To Michigan’s credit, they converted on two of their three fourth-down attempts, but those opportunities came with the game already decided.

No Wolverine looked like a star. Not EA Sports College Football 25 cover star Donovan Edwards, who had a measly 41 yards on eight carries. Edwards, despite the lackluster efforts that call into question whether Blake Corum’s production can be replaced, was Michigan’s best runner. He was the only RB to average over five yards per carry.

Davis Warren didn’t look like the answer to the JJ McCarthy question. If anything, more questions are now being asked about whether or not Warren is QB1 material in Ann Arbor.

Without a steady offensive attack, Michigan has to rely on the defense. They won’t face another QB as dynamic as Quinn Ewers this season, but USC’s Miller Moss, Washington’s Will Rogers, and Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel. So the competition level won’t fall off by much.

If Michigan can show more fight on the field, perhaps they won’t have opponents so brazenly disrespect them after games.

Then again, as the defending champs, they’ll have this sort of target on their back until they lose their crown.
